Freedom Farms is a farm in central New York State, approximately 3 hours from New York City in Green, NY. The farm consists of 180 acres of pasture and ponds.

Freedom Farms specializes in grass-fed Beef, pasture-raised Pork, and pasture-raised chickens and turkeys. Freedom sells a variety of boxes, but its specialty is the sale of cow ‘shares. ‘ You can purchase 1/8 of a cow, 1/4 of a cow, 1/2 of a cow or an entire cow. Remember that the price listed on their website for these shares represents a deposit to reserve your share. The cow deposit is currently $250, with a final price of $5,150. The whole cow will provide you with about 600 pounds of meat for an average price of $8.58/pound. The cow shares include every cut available, including ground beef, filet mignon, NY Strips, ribeyes, skirt steaks, and stew meat packs, and you have the option of including soup bones as well as organ meats, including liver, the heart, oxtail, and kidneys.

The pork from Freedom is also pasture-raised on their farm and includes everything from variety boxes to pig shares. The shares include a whole pig, 1/2 pig, 1/4 pig, and a roaster pig. Again, the prices listed on their website for the pig shares represent the required deposit; right now, that deposit is $150 for the whole pig. The final cost for the whole pig is approximately $1,450 for an estimated 200 pounds of meat, an average of $7.25 per pound. The pig shares include; Butts, Shoulders, Chops, Loin, Ham (both steaks and roast), bacon, pork belly, sausages (sweet, hot, breakfast), and hocks (fresh or smoked).

Freedom sells pasture-raised turkeys and chickens. The prices listed on the website are the actual prices of the birds. The whole chicken price listed on the website is for multiple birds, so make sure that you check to see what you are buying – they are likely more expensive than you will find at the grocery store.
